The Emergency Multilingual phrasebook, produced and updated by the British Red Cross Society with advice and funding from the Department of Health and endorsed by the British Association for Emergency Medicine (BAEM) is translated into 36 languages. - An updated compilation of language access policies at the state and local levels: We’ve combed through hundreds of municipal, county, and state records across the country to create an up-to-date collection of language access executive orders and policies. This compilation demonstrates the significant amount of activity in this arena in recent years, and also provides an array of templates for those who considering new language access policy initiatives.
- An expanded database: We’ve added hundreds of documents to the Language Portal database, specifically including documents that support educators and legal professionals in their efforts to assist and work with LEP individuals.
- Two additional Practitioner’s Corner pieces: Coming straight from the experts’ mouth, we’ve asked those working to implement language access solutions to provide tips and advice to the field. The Language Portal now features new Practitioner’s Corner columns on the “10 Best Practices for Multilingual Websites” and from Amina Huda, from the New York City Mayor’s Office of Operations, on NYCertified, a system used to certify the skills of the volunteer translators and interpreters who provide additional capacity to the city’s language access efforts.
