Across Virginia, we share the goal to be the healthiest state in the nation, but each Virginia county and independent city experiences a unique pattern of challenges and opportunities when pursing this goal. The dashboard below allows you to explore the health opportunity landscape in your community across the HOI’s four profiles. Use the map to see where your county ranks, or examine Local Health Districts using the drop down menu in the upper right corner.
A Closer Look
The health opportunity landscape varies broadly across Virginia. It also varies significantly block by block and street by street. Use the tool below to examine health opportunity at the Census Tract level in your county or independent city. Census Tracts are statistical areas created by the US Census Bureau that roughly equate to neighborhoods or groups of neighborhoods with similar characteristics. Use the radio buttons in the upper left corner to explore the health opportunity landscape in your community.
